About Us

On September 18, 1966, Archbishop Henry J. O’Brien created Christ the Redeemer parish, Milford, and appointed Father Richard Toner as founding pastor. He celebrated the first parish Mass as the Mathewson School on September 25. The next year of parish life was highlighted with a building drive for a church, beginning on March 22, 1967.

Father Toner broke ground for the church at the Oronoque Road property on August 18, 1968, and construction began. Finally, Archbishop John F. Whealon dedicated the Church of Christ the Redeemer on December 13, 1969. Contemporary in style with a sanctuary conforming to the liturgical directives of Vatican II, the new church seated about 625.
